I am writing today on a completely new topic. Bill Sutherland is now looking for editors of conservation-related journals (especially those published in non-English languages) who can agree with and implement his idea on how earlier evidence should be referenced when writing/submitting articles. Please find below information - any editors supporting this will be included in a paper he plans to submit to Cons Biol quite soon (in a week!). Do you know (or are you) editors of any conservation-related journals in Poland? Could you possibly forward this request to them (and if possible ask them to consider)? I think this is a great initiative and have been trying to convince Japanese Journal of Conservation Ecology.

We are concerned that conservation starts from scratch each time rather than building on collective knowledge (we plan to write a piece Standing on the toes of giants based on the famous Standing on the shoulders of giants). One issue we are currently focussing on is that papers testing interventions ignore much of the literature even if highly relevant. We analysed the problem with Oryx, which showed that the issue was serious.
I wonder if your journal might take a similar line for papers looking at interventions?

Conservation evidence Check the existing evidence for any intervention, at Conservation Evidence. If relevant evidence is available provide at least a sentence summarizing this in the Introduction (e.g. Four out of five previous studies found that increasing temperatures to 30–37 °C for at least 16 h cured amphibians of chytridiomycosis; Smith et al., 2017). If Conservation Evidence indicates there is as yet no evidence for the action, please state this. If Conservation Evidence has not yet summarized the evidence for the management action, please search for studies testing the action, and summarize any relevant evidence for similar actions. If Conservation Evidence does not yet cover the topic and no individual studies exist please state this.
